Sriracha

Sriracha is a spicy chili-garlic condiment with roots in Southeast Asian cuisine that’s widely used as a table sauce, dip, and finishing condiment for everything from noodles to burgers. It’s known for its balance of heat, garlic and sweetness and for being a pantry staple in many fusion and Vietnamese-American dishes. Nutritionally, Sriracha is typically used in small amounts but can be relatively high in sodium — it contains 2.4g of salt per 100g — and also has added sugars, so portion size matters. It does contribute small amounts of vitamins and minerals (for example vitamin K) and is low in fat and calories when compared to many prepared sauces. Because it’s a concentrated flavoring used sparingly, Sriracha can add a lot of taste with little energy, but its salt and sugar content are the main considerations if you’re watching sodium or added sugars.
