Fried Garlic is thinly sliced or chopped garlic cooked in oil until crisp and golden, commonly used as a flavorful condiment or garnish in many Asian and Mediterranean dishes. It is intensely aromatic and used to add crunchy texture and a burst of garlic flavor to soups, stir-fries, noodles and salads. Because it is fried, Fried Garlic is energy-dense and contains about 40g of fat per 100g, while still contributing small amounts of protein and fiber; it also retains micronutrients found in garlic such as vitamin K and manganese. As a prepared ingredient, it concentrates the oil and therefore increases calories compared with fresh garlic, so it’s best used sparingly as a flavoring rather than a main ingredient; swapping to fresh, roasted (no added oil) or powdered garlic can give similar flavor with much lower added fat and calories.
