Kaffir Lime Leaves

Kaffir Lime Leaf is an aromatic leaf used widely in Southeast Asian cuisines—most famously in Thai, Lao and Cambodian dishes—to add a bright, citrusy fragrance to soups, curries and stir-fries. It’s prized for its intense aroma rather than bulk, so it’s typically used fresh or torn into dishes just before serving. Nutritionally it’s very low in calories and fat and contributes a small amount of fiber; it’s also a notable source of vitamin K, providing about 300µg per 100 g. Because leaves are used sparingly, the nutritional impact in a typical serving is modest, but they add flavor without extra salt, sugar or fat. In addition to vitamins and minerals, makrut (kaffir) lime leaves contain aromatic phytochemicals and polyphenols that contribute antioxidant and flavor properties. They’re a flavorful way to boost aroma and micronutrient variety in meals without adding calories.
