Honey

Honey is a natural sweetener produced by bees from floral nectar and used worldwide in baking, dressings and as a table sweetener; varieties like Greek Thyme Honey are prized for their floral aroma and regional character. Nutritionally it is almost entirely carbohydrates and sugars — about 82.1g of sugar per 100g — with almost no fat or protein, and only trace amounts of minerals. While honey provides small amounts of minerals and plant compounds that can act as antioxidants, it is still a concentrated source of sugars and should be used sparingly; it should not be given to infants under one year of age.
