Pav

Pav is a soft, slightly sweet white bread roll originally from Mumbai and widely used across Indian street food and home cooking as a companion to pav bhaji, vada pav and other snacks. It’s known for its light, pillowy texture and shiny crust from an egg or milk wash in some recipes. In terms of nutrition, Pav is a refined wheat bread that provides about 8.9g of protein per 100g but is relatively low in fiber compared with whole-grain breads; it also contributes small amounts of B‑vitamins such as thiamine and folate plus selenium. From a health perspective, it’s a convenient energy source and can be part of a balanced meal, but choosing whole-grain or higher-fiber versions can improve satiety and micronutrient intake compared with standard white pav.
