Chanterelle is a funnel-shaped wild mushroom prized in European and North American cuisines for its golden colour and mildly peppery, fruity aroma. Often foraged rather than mass-farmed, chanterelles (also called girolles or Cantharellus cibarius) are commonly used in sautés, sauces, soups and egg dishes where their texture and flavor stand out. Nutritionally, Chanterelle is very low in energy and provides 3.8g of fiber per 100g, with modest protein and very little fat—making it a light way to add bulk and texture to meals without many calories. Chanterelle also contains carotenoid pigments that act as antioxidants and contributes B vitamins (notably riboflavin) and copper, nutrients that support energy metabolism and overall cell function. Its nutrient profile and low fat content make it a nutritious addition to a balanced diet.
