Agave Liquid Sweetener is a sweet syrup derived from the agave plant, commonly used as a liquid sweetener in beverages, baking and dressings and popular as an alternative to table sugar. Nutritionally it is almost entirely carbohydrates and sugars, providing 68g of sugar per 100g, with very little protein, fiber or fat. While it is often marketed for a lower glycemic effect than regular sugar, it supplies mostly simple sugars (a high proportion of fructose) and offers minimal vitamins or minerals, so it’s best used sparingly like other sweeteners.
